Woven Stone Sauvignon Blanc 2014. Ohau, Levin, New Zealand.
Grape: Sauvignon Blanc 100%
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues and depth, pale on edge. The nose is full and up-front with refreshing cool-spectrum aromas of grass, herbs and nettles, revealing gooseberry and white floral notes in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, intense flavours of grass and gooseberries are lifted by floral and herbal notes.
Woven Stone Pinot Gris 2014. Ohau, Levin, New Zealand.
Grape: Pinot Gris 100%
A generously flavoured Pinot Gris, the fragrant bouquet shows yellow peach, mango and floral, leading to a succulent and rounded palate that's smooth and nicely weighted.
Vila Marija Belo 2011, Movia, Brda, Slovenia
Grape: Rebula (Ribolla Gialla) 40%, Pinot Grigio 30%, Sauvignon Blanc 30%
An unusual blend of white grapes, vibrant and crisp. Bright straw yellow in the glass. On the nose white peach, pineapple, tomato leaf and green bell pepper, with hints of vanilla. A fruit-juice type sensation in the mouth with the Sauvignon Blanc showing through with more citrus/lemongrass and touches of a pine note and peppermint in the finish.
Rosa Caolino 2013, Tenuta di Castellaro, Lipari, Italy
Grape: Corinto 60%, Nero d’Avola 30%, other native red and white varieties 10%
This is a blush wine with strong hints of red berries and with an ideal acidity on the palate. On the nose is a fine mix of rose, cherry with hints of almond.
Bardolino DOC 2014, Le Fraghe, Veneto, Italy
Grapes: Corvina 80%, Rondinella 20%
The rich, complex bouquet is the result of a perfect blend of fruity essences such as sweet-sour cherry and blueberry, and spicy nuances of cinnamon and black pepper. Soft suite of tannins and a lovely balance between a judicious acidity and full, savoury flavours. It lingers long on the finish.
Vila Marija Merlot 2012, Movia, Brda, Slovenia
Grapes: Merlot 100%
Warm spices over a base of brambly blackberries and provides a streak of minerality that cleans the palate and leaves the tongue twitching for more.
